Vanaprastha was founded as a non-governmental organisation in 1999. Since then we are dedicated to fighting poverty and contributing to a better future, especially for children, youth, women, and aged people in the villages of India. We work with a concrete scope and we follow certain principles. We are present mainly in South India, in a region which is described in detail under area of action. Both the name “Vanaprastha” and its logo have a profound meaning for us. The meaning of the name and the logo are explained in the corresponding section. At Vanaprastha, we follow the Shantimarga spiritual tradition and greet each other “Shanti Om”.
